Andrea Castonguay, a recipient of a Mellon summer stipend, is a Ph.D. candidate in History. Her research interests include North Africa, the Almoravid dynasty, Islamic Theology, Sunni Islam, the Maliki School, History of the Islamic World, Medieval Spain, and West Africa. Prior to coming to Notre Dame, Ms. Castonguay earned her B.A. in Medieval History and Book Culture from Hampshire College and her M.Litt. in Medieval History from the University of St. Andrews.
