Michael Wood, a recipient of a Mellon summer stipend, is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology. His research interests include religion, culture, cognition, and theory. Mr. Wood is an affiliate of the Center for the Study of Religion and Society. Contained within the broad fields of cultural sociology and the sociology of religion, Michael’s work draws on insights from cognitive science to develop theories of social action. His current research uses theories cognition to study religious conflict, organizational decision-making, and the nature and role of religious knowledge among the formerly religious. Michael is also a part of the Lilly Parenting Project, which studies religious transmission from parents to children.
